HoW tO oRgAnIzE a PaNzA pArTy...
Before the Party
- Decide what kind of screening you want...a small private screening at your home or a public screening.
- Find a location and pick a date.
- Make sure you have plenty of seats for everyone and all the necessary equipment to show the DVD (a large television or projection system).
- Order a copy of the DVD for screening from our website.
- Promote the Party. If you are hosting a private party at your house this might mean just making a couple of phone calls to friends or sending an evite. If you are hosting a more public event at a university, cultural center, or theatre this might mean making and distributing flyers and talking to press. We can send a press packet to any local press interested in covering the event. Contact us at panzapower@gmail.com
- If you can, you should serve food and refreshments or asks your guests to contribute and make it a panza potluck.
- Let us know the details of your party (place, time, public or private). If youʼd like to have one of the artists (writer, director, performer, musician) from the panza monologues attend your party and speak with your guests, or to order a screening package (to sell at your event) please contact us at panzapower@gmail.com to discuss options.
During the Party
- Have a sign in sheet (with name and emails) for guests that want to join our mailing list.
- Try to take pictures, that we can post on our blog.
- If you want to sell DVDs at your party contact us at panzapower@gmail.com about special screening packages. If not, please let your guests know they can purchase the DVD from our website.
- Let your guests know that they could host their own screening. It doesnʼt have to be public – it can't be a private party with a few of their closest friends in their own home.
- Finally, don't forget - it's a party. Have fun!
After the Party
- Please let us know how your screening went.
- Send us the names and emails of anyone that wants to join our mailing list.
- We also encourage you and your guests to share their thoughts about the work in the comment section of our blog site.

The students at UC Davis organized a week of Semana de la Xicana Events. They had a great list of speakers and gatherings to address issues affecting them as students in higher education. In addition to organizing a screening of The Panza Monologues DVD they also created this brilliant photobooth project asking the question: What does your Panza want to say? Check out the pictures. They are fantastic. Power to the Panza!

Embrace your Panza is an article by Julio Nieves about the the mujeres of Conciencia Feminil. Each year they perform the Panza Monologues to raise money for their Feminist Conference at the University of California Long Beach. We're verty proud of what they do! And her is a link to a video interview with the organizers.

Marissa Ramirez was the original sound designer for the Panza Monologues. She chose all the beats that drove the rythm and feeling of each piece and traveled to LA for the recording of the DVD, where she tirelessly worked behind the boards as our light operator. And even though she is a flaca herself, she has to be one of our BIGGEST panza allies. She threw a slammin Valentine's Day Panza Party at her house in San Antonio, complete with barbequed brisket. Read Deborah Martin's article about the event and what she calls "the party approach to marketing."
